Artificial Turf Installation in Nanaimo

Artificial Turf Installation in Nanaimo

We install artificial turf for lawns, play areas, and pet runs across Nanaimo and central Vancouver Island. Turf stays green year-round, takes heavy use, and skips the mowing and watering. But it only performs if the base is done properly. We excavate, lay and compact a structural aggregate base, build in drainage, then lay and secure the turf so it stays flat and sheds water. This is an install service on your property; we do not sell product or do DIY supply.

FAQ

Questions about hardscaping & outdoor living

What's the difference between hardscaping and landscaping?
Hardscaping is the structural, built part of your yard: patios, retaining walls, walkways, driveways, grading, and base work. Soft landscaping is the planting side, like lawns, gardens, shrubs, and trees. Maxx Contracting does the hardscaping and site work; we build the durable structures and surfaces that make an outdoor space usable, and we do not do planting or yard maintenance.
How much does hardscaping cost in Nanaimo?
It depends on the project. A paver walkway, a full patio, and a retaining wall on a hard-to-reach lot are very different jobs. The biggest cost drivers are excavation, base preparation, site access, and material choice, not just the square footage you see on top. We give a free, detailed estimate after a site visit so you know what the job takes before any work starts.
How long does a hardscaping project take?
Most residential patios and walkways take a few days to a couple of weeks depending on size, access, and how much excavation and base work is involved. Retaining walls and projects that need significant grading or drainage take longer. We give you a realistic timeline with your estimate and keep you updated as the work moves along.
What areas do you serve for hardscaping?
We serve Nanaimo, Lantzville, Cedar, Ladysmith, Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Duncan, and the surrounding central Vancouver Island communities.
Is artificial turf better than grass?
For the right spot it can be. Artificial turf stays green year-round, handles heavy foot traffic, pets, and play areas, and needs no mowing or watering, which suits shaded or hard-to-grow sections of a Vancouver Island yard. Like a patio, its lifespan comes down to what is underneath. We excavate, install a compacted aggregate base and proper drainage, then lay and secure the turf so it stays flat and drains.
How do you prepare the base for a hardscape or turf install?
Base preparation is where a hardscape lasts or fails. We excavate to the right depth, lay and compact a structural aggregate base in lifts, set the slopes so water drains away from the surface and your foundation, and add drainage where the site needs it. Skipping this step is why DIY and low-bid patios heave and settle. Proper base and grading is the part you do not see, and the part that matters most.
