“You guys dug up my waterline on Fitzwilliam St. today. Tonight when I returned home from work I had a look at the job. Good work! The driveway you had to dig up looks great. You were here when you said you would be. You got the job done. The price was reasonable. I will have no hesitation recommending you to friends or calling you back if I need your services again.”

FAQ

Questions about custom decks

Composite or wood: which decking should I choose?
It comes down to budget and upkeep. Cedar and pressure-treated wood cost less up front and look natural, but need periodic staining or sealing. Composite costs more initially but resists rot, fading, and splinters and needs almost no upkeep, which suits our wet coast climate well. We walk you through the trade-offs and recommend the best fit.
Do I need a permit to build a deck in Nanaimo?
Usually, yes. Decks above a certain height, attached to the house, or with stairs typically need a building permit from the City of Nanaimo or your local jurisdiction. We design and build to the BC Building Code and help make sure the permit and inspections are handled.
What does a custom deck cost in Nanaimo?
It depends on the size, height, materials, railings, stairs, and any ground prep or footings needed on a sloped lot. Because every deck is custom, we give you a detailed, itemized quote after a free site visit rather than a flat per-square-foot rate.
How long does a deck take, and when should I book for summer?
Most residential decks take a few days to a couple of weeks on site once materials are in. Summer is our busiest deck season, so book early in spring to lock in a build before patio season.
Do you repair or rebuild existing decks?
Yes. We replace rotten boards, failing joists, posts, and railings, or rebuild from the footings up when a deck is past saving. We tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense or a rebuild is the better value.
